Detox and addiction treatment Program - Can It Be An Effective Program To Detox The Body?

10 day detox programs have become quite popular today, now that our mass media has caught on with the detox craze big time. The problem is that the mass media knows that to sell its products, it must cater to the whims and desires of its readers. It is doing this even if those whims and desires are unattainable, because they are far from being realistic. It seems like just about everyone nowadays would love to lose some pounds. It is just about the number one topic of most social gathering conversations, and is discussed readily in all forms of the media. Weight loss, however, should not be looked upon as being a goal in and by itself. The objective should be for the attainment of better long lasting health.

I am not saying that a 10 day detox and addiction treatment program cannot have a significant role in the overall detox program, but I am saying that miraculous results cannot be achieved in the perceived and discussed time frames we hear and read about in the media. To do so has been irresponsible on the part of the media. It is also unfortunate that detox programs are always made to be believed as being safe for everyone to be on, and everyone will benefit from them. This is just not true, and there can never be one weight loss solution to solve everyone's weight problems. This is especially true since we are dealing with something of such an individualized nature as that of the human body.

What is really needed is a program geared to the improvement of bodily health, with sufficient flexibility to make accommodations for everyone's individual situation regardless of their physical condition.

It may contain components of a short term nature and addiction treatment

Even though the majority of 10 day detox programs are not as harsh as the weekend and seven day programs usually are, they are still considered to be too advanced for those that are overweight and basically in poor bodily health. These people must be on a more sedate program and one that requires a more patient approach.

The liver is the primary and most important organ of the eliminatory system of the human body. It is the processing center from which toxins are to be expelled from the body, and if it does not function properly and at its optimum efficiency, toxins are not being properly excreted from the body because they are not being processed normally. The result of this is usually the creation of a bloated body, with the appearance of an excessive amount of cellulite distribution. The goal is not for the removal of these unwanted and unsightly side effects, but to bring the body back to a sufficiently healthy condition so that the excretory system, once again can return to a somewhat normal state and begin to function properly again. For something like this to happen, a longer term approach must be pursued rather than a 10 day detox program.

The starting point would be to eliminate all harmful substances from the body such as tobacco, caffeine, and the consumption of alcohol. After that has been accomplished, the next step would be the replacement of heavy refined food substances with healthier food. By doing this, we are giving the liver a chance to function better by not having to work as hard. With the introduction of short periods of fasting into this detox program, the liver can be stimulated to return to normal and can then begin the process of normal elimination once more. As time goes by, more extreme methods of toxic cleansing can be introduced into the program. This can be attempted because the elimination system will at this time be in a much healthier state and better prepared to handle more extreme detoxification methods. A 10 day detox system could definitely be handled at this time.
